Ella Mae Caplinger

Ella Mae Greathouse Caplinger, 85, of Parkersburg, W.Va. went home to be with the Lord and her Mother, Father and brothers, Ed and Joe on Wednesday, March 2, 2022 from her residence surrounded by her family. Ella Mae was born October 28, 1936 in Roane County, W.Va., a daughter of the late Wade Jennings and Orza Althea Lee Greathouse. She attended Parkersburg High School and was a homemaker. Ella Mae was a second mother to her grandchildren and loved caring for them. She enjoyed painting. She was a member of Jefferson Baptist Temple. Ella Mae is survived by her husband of 68 years, Reverend Jerry M. Caplinger; two daughters, Sherri L. Morgan and Penny M. Boyce (Jemmy) all of Parkersburg; two sons, Roy W. Caplinger (Sheila) of Parkersburg and Jay M. Caplinger (Lora) of Mineral Wells; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren; and many beloved nieces, nephews and special friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two brothers, Edward and Joseph Greathouse. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday, March 7, 2022 at the Vaughan-Kimes Funeral Home, 521 – 5th Street, Parkersburg with Pastor Ron Hendershot officiating. Services will conclude with burial in Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of services Monday at the funeral home. Memorials are preferred to Jefferson Baptist Temple, 1405 Erie Street, Parkersburg, WV 26101.
