Ann Elizabeth Strickland

Ann Elizabeth Strickland, 87, born in Charleston, West Virginia on June 23, 1939, went to be with the angels on October 16, 2026, at 3:03 p.m. at Ohio Valley Healthcare.

She was the daughter of Julian P. Adams and Garnet Wigal Adams Burdette, and step-daughter of Kenneth F. Burdette. Ann was the last living member of the Adams family. In addition to her parents and stepfather, Ann was preceded in death by her loving husband, Johnnie E. Strickland.

A 1957 graduate of Belpre High School, she had been employed by Stout's Drug Store, Dils Brothers Department Store, and Sun Store. In 1970 Ann graduated from Scott Martin Parkersburg Beauty School, where she became a teacher and director of training. She was also employed at the Princess Hair Shoppe, Allure Beauty Salon, and Sue's Beauty Shop until becoming owner and operater of the Mar-Vel Beauty Salon for twenty-seven years, retiring in 2002. Ann also attended Parkersburg Community College, currently WVU-P.

Ann loved the color purple, birds, butterflies, and Snoopy, her first toy. She was a member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church where she served in many capacities. Ann had been active with Girl Scout Troop #4, serving as a leader, camping, traveling, and learning leadership. She also enjoyed bowling, WVU Football, reading, adult coloring, word searches, and cross stitching.

Her memory will be carried in the hearts of her loved ones, including cousins, Thomas H. Bailey, Bobbi (Herbie) Davis, Mike Barrows, and Jay (Lisa) Bailey, and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 22, 2026, at Vaughan Kimes Funeral Home with Pastor Ray Maleke officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Her family will receive friends 11:00 until service time at the funeral home.
