Bertha E. Curfman

Bertha Ellen Curfman, 89, of Rockport, West Virginia passed away Saturday, August 8, 2026, at WVU Medicine Camden Clark Hospital.

She was born in Rockport, a daughter of the late Elzie and Dorothy Sams Smith. In addition to her parents, Bertha was preceded in death by nine siblings, including her twin sister, Betty, whom she deeply missed.

Bertha enjoyed taking drives in the car with her husband, going to flea markets, fishing, going camping, cooking, canning for her family, spending time with friends and family, working in the garden and planting flowers. She loved her ducks and watching the birds, turkeys, squirrels and deer at the feeders. She was always doing something for others.

A loving wife, mother, and homemaker, her memory will be carried in the hearts of her family, including her husband of 68 years and 7 days, Robert James Curfman; sons, Randy Curfman (Debbie), Michael Curfman, and Jeff Curfman (Becky); grandchildren, Bradley, Dustin, Cody, Justin, and Madelyne; great-grandchildren, Marcus, Nathaniel, Luane, Tyler, Caleb, Theo, Henry, Avery, Everleigh, Junie, and Anna; brother, Gary Smith (Dee); and special friend and sister-in-law, Bonnie Smith.

A private graveside service will be conducted at the convenience of her family. Vaughan Kimes Funeral Home is assisting with final arrangements.
