Charles David Stephens

Charles David Stephens, 91, of Parkersburg, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 3, 2025.

He was born April 14, 1934, in Reno, Ohio, son of the late Ralph E. and Ruth McAtee Stephens. Charles was a 1951 graduate of Williamstown High School. 

Charles was a hard worker, as previous owner and operator of CeeJay Sales, he also retired from the City of Parkersburg Water Department and was a past volunteer firefighter in Waverly. 

He was a devoted Christian, a member of the Gideons Auxiliary, and the Wesleyan Church. Charles was a gifted singer, he sang with the Friendly Gospelairs, Mountaineer Quartet, and he led the Pleasant Grove Youth Choir. 

Charles loved to laugh and care for others. He was always rooting for the “underdog”, was a friend to anyone he met, and was an amazing father.

His memory and influence will be carried in the lives of his son, Pastor Brady Stephens of Parkersburg, WV; daughter, Brenda Sue (Kevin) Poole of Vienna, WV; grandson, Parker D. Stephens of Parkersburg; sister-in-law, Pat Parsons (Jim); and nieces and nephews, including Lloyd Moore (Jane), Linda Mullenix (Bernard), Lyle Moore (Debbie), Kenny Robinson (Lynn), Kim Stephens (Greg), Donna Goff (Randy), and Neil Parsons.

A special thanks goes out to Amedisys Hospice, Kenny and Lynn Robinson, and Stacey Bartenschlag for all the care and support they have given to Charles. 

In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife of 65 years, Donna Joan Robinson Stephens in February 2021; daughter-in-law, Jennifer Sue Stephens in September 2021; and sister, Hazel Pauline Moore. 

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Thursday, May 8, 2025, at Vaughan Kimes Funeral Home with Pastor John Frum officiating. Services will conclude in Mt. Olivet Cemetery where he will be laid to rest beside Donna. Visiting hours will be 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
