Dana F. Campbell

Dana F. Campbell, of Vienna, W. Va., passed away at home October 14, 2025 surrounded by family, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born January 22, 1953, in Parkersburg, W.Va., son of the late Russell F. Campbell and the late Jean Campbell.

Dana graduated from Parkersburg High School in 1971 and was employed at Shell Chemical/ Kraton Polymers for 33 years. In earlier years, he was an avid beekeeper, wine maker and enjoyed spending time at the family cabin. He loved collecting coins, researching family history, taking photos, camping, hunting, and was always willing to lend a helping hand to family and friends.He was a longtime member of the City Bible Church.

Dana cherished every moment spent with family and friends. His adventurous spirit led him on countless vacations, camping trips, and travels to cheer on his beloved WVU Mountaineers. Some of his happiest times were spent sitting around a campfire, swapping stories with loved ones. He found great joy in being surrounded by those who meant the most to him and never turned down the opportunity to enjoy a family favorite recipe or dessert.

Dana is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Mary J. Campbell; son, Jon Campbell (Mindy); daughter, Jenny Topham (Chris); stepdaughter, Rennie Vandeborne; stepson, Andy Bower (Serena). He is also survived by his sisters, Carolyn Beckett and Sandy Campbell; special friends, Debbie Wharton and John Guinn; and his devoted Labrador, Sadie Sue, who was always by his side.

Best known as "Papaw," Dana leaves behind grandchildren

Lauren Fingers (Jeremiah), Richard Vandeborne, Jacob Campbell (Katie), Joshua Campbell, Brayden Ahart, Savannah Reed, Kennedy Reed, and Adalynn Bower; as well as great-grandchildren Dylan, Sophia, Ava, Elijah, Vincent, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Jody Campbell and Steve Campbell.

A celebration of his life will be held at City Bible Church, 1101 46th Street, Vienna, on November 14, 2025 at 3pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to City Bible Church.

The family would like to thank everyone for their countless prayers, calls, texts, and meals. A special thank-you is extended to Dr. Kelly Cawley of MMH, as well as Courtney and Travis with Amedisys Hospice Care, for their compassionate care and professionalism in helping Dana and the family through this difficult time.
