Davy Holly Dye, 93, left this world on April 2, 2026 in Morgantown, WV. He was born January 20, 1933 in Reedy, WV to the late Pearl Hollie and Mary Alice Dye. He graduated from Spencer High School in 1951.
He married Mary Jo Taylor on June 25, 1956, and they shared 53 loving years together before her passing in May of 2009. He served as a paratrooper in the U.S. Army, 11th Airborne Division during the Korean War. In May of 1958, he entered Andrew-Toledo Barber College. Following graduation, he opened a shop in Vienna, WV. After several years of dedicated work, he sold his business to spend more time with his sons and wife. He worked in various factory positions until retiring from GE Plastics in 1993.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary Jo Dye and his brother, Brooks Dye.
Davy is survived by his sons, Dr. Bryan Dye and wife, Dr. Lora Graves of Morgantown, WV, Mark Dye and wife, Tami, and Brent Dye of Greenville, SC; grandchildren, Katherine Kopp, Kristen Dye, Allie Hanahan, Bryce Gattoni, and husbands; and five great-granddaughters.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Disabled American Veterans Charitable Service Trust.
Funeral service will take place at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, April 7, 2026 at Vaughan Kimes Funeral Home with Pr. Mike Kidd officiating. Visitation will begin at 12:00 PM until time of service. Burial will follow at Evergreen South Cemetery with Military Honors provided by American Legion Post 15.
