Harold Flinn

Harold “Leo” Flinn, of Parkersburg, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2025, at the age of 87.

Born in Belleville, West Virginia on March 7, 1938, Leo was a son of the late Harold Flinn and Reva White. He was lovingly raised by Grace Hale and grew up surrounded by a large and lively family, with brothers Orlin “Tater,” Argyle “Short,” and Harold “Whiz,” and sisters Reva, Neva, Doris, and Ruth, all of whom preceded him in death.

Leo proudly served in the United States Army, where he developed many of the skills that became the foundation for his lifelong work as a mechanic. After his service, he founded Flinn’s Fix It, where his unmatched ability to make and repair anything became well known in the community. Leo took great pride in his craftsmanship, his love of tools, and his willingness to help anyone who needed a hand.

He was first married to Sylvia McKay Flinn who preceded him in death, and later married Mary Lou Hart Flinn, who survives him. Through Mary Lou, Leo was blessed with four loving stepdaughters, Connie, Margie, Ginny, and Wendy, all of whom held a special place in his heart.

Leo is also survived by his children Doug Flinn (Lisa Alongi) and Lynette Johnson, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Laura Bess; he was a proud grandfather to Casey, Ryan, Jordan (John Markulis), Jake, Grace, Todd, and Tiffany; and Leo cherished his extended family, Jimmy and Kitty White, Ron and Judy Stephens, Bruce and Sandy Whitely, Pam Rost, and Bob and Barbie Whitely, as well as many nieces and nephews who adored their “Uncle Leo.”

Beyond his mechanical skills, Leo had a softer side known to those lucky enough to receive one of his homemade cakes, often baked to celebrate birthdays. His kitchen creations, like his handiwork, were made with love.

A man of deep faith, Leo was a devoted member of Milhoan Ridge Baptist Church. His kind words, quick wit, and infectious smile touched everyone he met. Leo will be remembered for his generosity, positivity, and unwavering spirit, qualities that will live on in the hearts of his cherished family and friends.
