Ira Verl Kimes, 91, of Parkersburg, WV, passed away Friday, July 25, 2025 at his residence.
He was born February 26, 1934, in Belleville, WV, a son of the late Ira and Eliza Salser Kimes.
Upon graduation, Ira served his country honorably in the United States Army as a military policeman from 1955 – 1961, serving in Korea from 1957 – 1958. After his time in the service, he began working as a chemical operator at GE Plastics. Ira attended Camden Ave. Church of Christ. He enjoyed camping, bowling, and fishing once in awhile.
He is survived by his son, Ira V. Kimes Jr. (Vicki Akers); two daughters, Teresa Mae Libert and Rebecca Ann Miller (Ted); two sisters, Shirley Miller (Mike) and Janet Boggs (Bill); 8 grandchildren, Robert Taylor, Alicia Taylor, Jeffrey Kimes, Justin Kimes, Brandon Taylor, Zachary Taylor, Kira Renee Nygard, and Michaela Klingler; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Ira was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Grace Kimes; his daughter, Tammie Sue Wilson; sisters, Irene Salser and Sheila Sams; and a brother, Ronald Kimes.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 11 AM, Wednesday, July 30, 2025 at Vaughan Kimes Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Pugh officiating. Services will conclude with entombment at Sunset Memory Gardens mausoleum where military rites will be observed. The Kimes family will receive friends from 5-7 PM Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at the funeral home.
