Jim Hewitt passed away on June 6, 2026, in Parkersburg, WV, surrounded by his family.
Jim was born on January 10, 1943, in Parkersburg, to the late Roy R. and Edna Hewitt. He graduated from Parkersburg High School in 1960. After four years in the U.S. Army serving in Germany, he worked at G.E., retiring in 1998 after many years of distinguished service. He traveled the world for work, but Jim was a proud south-sider with fond memories and endless affection for the old neighborhood.
Jim is survived by his three children, Stacey (Gary) Apple of Dunedin, FL, Jamie (Konni) Hewitt of Parkersburg, WV, and Betsy (Mark) Northrup of Bardstown, KY. He was a very proud grandfather of five, Ross (Kristen) Mistretta, Blake Mistretta, Philadelphia (Wes) Florence, Sidney (Chandler) Young, and Sam (Ruth) Northrup. Jim was especially proud to have four great-grandchildren, Caroline, Greyson, Cameron James, and Gideon. Jim is also survived by his brother, Ron Hewitt, and his sisters Ina Vee (Butch) Ellison and Nancy Menges. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Mary Lou; his brother, Dick Hewitt; and his sister, Jenny Lowers.
A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Vaughan Kimes Funeral Home, 521 5th Street, Parkersburg, WV. Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. at Sunset Memory Gardens, 1934 Dupont Road, Parkersburg, conducted by Pastor Michael Kidd and with Military Honors by American Legion Post 15.
