Joyce Kline Haynes of Washington, West Virginia passed away peacefully on June 6, 2025.
She was born in Greenwood Township, Pennsylvania, the second daughter of the late Frank Kline and Martha Jane Hidlay Kline. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Denver Keith Haynes, Jr. and a son, Benjamin W. Haynes.
Joyce is survived by her son Frank Kline Haynes (Marilee) of Huntersville, North Carolina, daughter-in-law Donell Haynes of Ripley, West Virginia, and six grandchildren, Davis, Will, and Sia of Ripley, West Virginia, and Charlie, Sara, and Anna of Huntersville, North Carolina.
She graduated from Millville High School in Millville, Pennsylvania, and Lycoming College in Williamsport, Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art History. She recalled many fond memories of her time at Lycoming and was a passionate alumnus. While raising two sons, she learned accountancy and worked for her husband’s shoe business as its bookkeeper. She started a second career with Edward Jones as the Branch Office Administrator in 1992 and served faithfully until her retirement in 2019.
Joyce was a member of The Memorial Church of the Good Shepherd, the city’s “Pink Church", for over 51 years. She served the church as president of Episcopal Church Women, a member of the vestry, and assisted with the food ministry for the homeless.
Joyce was a devoted mother and showed her support as cub-scout den mother. She enjoyed traveling to visit friends and relatives in her native Pennsylvania, picking strawberries for pies and jam, and shopping for clothes and antiques.
Her family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, June 9, 2025, at Vaughan Kimes Funeral Home, Parkersburg. Funeral services will be conducted 7:00 p.m. at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, 903 Charles Street, Parkersburg on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, with The Reverend Katie Beth Miksa officiating. Joyce will be laid to rest beside her husband in the West Virginia National Cemetery of Grafton, West Virginia, 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 11, 2025.
