Markey Lee Backus Powell

Markey Lee Backus Powell, 76, of Belpre, died September 11, 2025, at home.

She was born July 10, 1949, a daughter of the late Norton and Virginia Backus.

Markey was a 1967 graduate of Parkersburg High School and had retired from G.E. Plastics.

Survivors include one son, Joe Powell (Janet) of Belpre; one daughter, Kimberly Evans (James) of Kentucky; five grandchildren, Joey, Brianna, Abbye, Maddi, and Amelia; five great-grandchildren, Hunter, Rhydar, Kouper, Tripp, and Andie; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Michael Backus.

She will be laid to rest with a private graveside service. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to a charity of your choice in memory of Markey.
