It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Preston Blaine Minney, devoted husband, father, and papa. He went home to be with his Lord and Saviour on Tuesday, March 31, 2026.
He was born February 5, 1958, to the late Harry Oren and Alma Grace Smith Minney.
Blaine loved the Lord and read his bible daily.
Born in Grantsville, West Virginia, he was raised in Parkersburg and was a 1978 graduate of Parkersburg South High School. Blaine started college in 2014 and was on the Dean’s List before being diagnosed with cancer.
Blaine’s favorite place to be was in Calhoun County on the farm. He loved hunting and fishing.
His true love was his family and he adored his grandbabies. His loving memory will be carried in the hearts of his survivors, including his wife, Beth Somerville Minney; son, Cody Minney; daughter, Meriah Minney (Bob); sister, Diane Huffman; grandchildren, Callie, LeRoy, Oscar, and Ariyah; niece, Brittany Huffman.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his in-laws, Lee and Sue Somerville, and a niece, Brandy Huffman.
His family would like to thank some very special people who gave compassionate care to Blaine throughout his illness: Dr. Marcela Rugel-aizprua, Dr. Kelli Cawley, Marcia McCullough and the entire Strecker Cancer family, Jami Seagle, NP and the palliative care team, the fourth-floor nurses and ICU team of Marietta Memorial Hospital, and Dr. Andrew Pruett and Dr. Albeir Mousa and their team.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 4, 2026, at Vaughan Kimes Funeral Home with Steve Conley officiating, concluding with interment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Viewing will be from 11:00 a.m. until time of service.
In lieu of flowers donations to the Strecker Cancer Center, 400 Matthews Street, Marietta, Ohio 45750 are requested.
