Richard F. Small, 74, of Washington, W.Va., passed away at his home on May 7, 2016, with his family by his side. He was born Aug. 14, 1941, in Lubeck, W.Va., a son of the late Charles Franklin and Edith Grimm Small. He was a Baptist by faith and was a Mechanical Foreman in Teflon and also was a part of the Project Engineering Program for DuPont. He loved gardening, fishing, hunting and his grandchildren. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Carolyn Anne (Gherke) Small; one son, Chad (Sabrina) Small of Lubeck, W.Va.; two daughters, Michelle Nichols and Jennifer (Bob) Smith, both of Parkersburg, W.Va.; three sisters, Patricia (Lou) Osborne of Melbourne, Fla., Delores Ambro of Ravenswood, W.Va., and Carolyn (Jerry) Brown of Vienna, W.Va.; nine grandchildren, Alexis, Chloe and Sydney Nichols, Josie and Emma Smith and Austin, Allee, Delaney and Franklin Small; and two step grandchildren, Jolie and Carter Strothers. Friends and family are invited to attend funeral services at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 10, 2016, at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St., Parkersburg, W.Va., with Pastor Bob Kniley officiating. Burial will follow at Lubeck Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Monday, May 9, 2016, at the funeral home and one hour prior to the funeral on Tuesday, May 10, 2016.
