Shirley E. Wingrove Flesher

We announce the passing of our mother and grandmother, Shirley Flesher, of Waverly, WV, to her eternal home on Saturday morning, March 28, 2026.

Shirley was born August 5, 1937 in Waverly, WV to the late Clarence Wingrove and Helen Carpenter Wingrove. She married Darrell 'John" Flesher on June 1, 1957 and together they built a great life together, raising four girls. Shirley was a devoted wife, daughter, mother, sister, and neighbor, and loved opening her home to family gatherings.

Shirley faithfully attended and supported Pleasant Grove Church in Waverly, all her life. She was a blessing to the family and neighborhood and stood on "the promises of God" - Corinthians 5:8, "To be absent from this body is to be present with the LORD." She truly believed that "If you miss Heaven, you've missed it all!” She was an inspiration to her family, friends, and many others.

In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her husband John; daughter, Cindy Phillips and her husband, Ronnie; brother, Jim Wingrove; sister, Margaret Huggins and her husband, Bob; brother-in-law, William Flesher; and son-in-law, Fred McClung

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Penny Biddle (Nick), Vicky Eddy (Steve), and Michele Fritz (Ken); grandchildren, Casey Biddle (Melissa), Erin Hall (Nate), Jesse Biddle (Heather), Joy Hay (Tristan), Emily Hamilton (David), Cody McClung, Ryan McClung (Allie), Kristan Gibson-Fritz (Kole), and Austen Fritz (Bryar Powell); great-grandchildren, Colin Bryant, Haley Biddle, Regan Biddle, Kole Biddle, Kenzy Biddle, Sam Hall, Lea Hall, Ben Hall, Caleb Hay, Kase Hay, Olivia Hamilton, Mason McClung, Gracie McClung, and Zander Gibson-Fritz; sister, Peggy Baileys (Denny), sisters-in-law, Sharon Wingrove and Joyce Flesher; special cousin, Linda Carpenter; and many other cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. She had a life well lived!

Visitation will take place Tuesday, March 31, 2026 at Vaughan Kimes Funeral Home from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Funeral Service will be 3:00 PM on Wednesday, April 1, 2026 at Pleasant Grove Church, 2415 Bull Run Rd. Waverly, WV with Pastor Randy Dornon officiating. Family will be accepting visitors from 1:00 PM until time of service at the church. Snacks will be served in Church Fellowship Hall following service.
