Jack was born August 26, 1953, to the late Stanley Hess, Sr. and Trixie Dunaway Hess. He passed away at WVU Medicine Camden Clark Medical Center on August 1, 2025.
Jack was a 1970 graduate of Parkersburg South High School where he played the clarinet with the band.
After graduation, Jack went to work at Parkersburg News and later worked for Walmart until his retirement at the age of 62.
Jack loved to bowl at Ren-Dor Lanes and was on a league for many years. Prior to moving to Worthington Healthcare, he resided at Unity Plaza for many years where he had made many friends.
He attended Broadway Church of the Nazarene and loved his Pastor John Witmer. Jack’s face would light up when he came to visit him in the hospital. Johnny Briles, too, visited often, and the family would like to thank them both.
Jack is survived by two sisters, Linda Bolinger and her children, Sherry Walker (Leon) and Tom Bolinger (Margaret); and Loretta McCoy (Randy) and her children, Phillip McCoy, Ramona McCoy, Andrea McCoy, and Randall McCoy; and several great-nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Tom Bolinger, and great-nephew, Owen James Leffel.
His family would like to thank Worthington Healthcare, WVU Medicine Camden Clark Medical Center, and Housecalls Hospice for their kindness and helpful care of Jack and the family, may God bless you all.
A memorial service will be conducted 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at Vaughan Kimes Funeral Home with Tom Bolinger and Pastor John Witmer officiating. His family will receive friends 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
